OUR HISTORY
Mr. Othmar Rey, founder of Rey Hotel Chain.

Long-standing family expertise in the hotel business!
In the 1960s, Mr. Othmar Rey, a director of several Swiss and international companies at the time, came up with a hotel concept on his travels that the industry was lacking: comfortable establishments offering independent accommodation.
And so, in 1963, the first chain of hotels equipped with self-catering studios was born, bearing the name of its founder: Rey Hotel Chain.
This visionary system helped to remove any servitude that traditional customers, particularly those on long stays, would not accept. The hotel business quickly diversified, with the development of residential hotels.
Hospitality, an intergenerational affair within the group
After Othmar Rey had laid the foundations of the company for over 20 years, his son joined the business in the 1980s. Christian Rey, who holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Fribourg and is a graduate of Harvard Business School (VISP), has given the group the impetus it needs to consolidate nationally and expand internationally. A former President of the Geneva Tourist Office and the Swiss Hotel Association (Hôtellerie Suisse), Christian Rey brings his vision of Swiss hospitality excellence to all his activities.

Years go by, but the passion remains…
Today, Christian Rey, President of the Rey Group, accompanied by his son Xavier Rey, General Manager, his daughter Alexandra de Coulon, a qualified lawyer and notary, who heads the legal department, and his youngest daughter, Éléonore de Poortere, Artistic Director, together manage their 350-room Geneva hotel portfolio, all driven by the same passion for their work and an innovative, respectful vision of the future.
